As you can see the Devonport Rd columns are now full height. Also the beams and precast floor for the top floor are being placed at the moment ready for a concrete pour next week. The framing for the windows at ground level commences this week.

Level 2 floor has been constructed. In the next 2 weeks the Level 3 beams will be placed, Level 3 floor poured and steel frame for the 1st Ave canopy will be put in place. So the building is really taking shape. 8 months to go.

The building is growing and creating a lot of interest with people watching the activity. Most of the 1st floor has been poured and the columns for the 2nd floor are going up. On the ground floor, with the 1st floor overhead, you get a sense of the real value of the 3m floor to ceiling height (the building is 4m floor to floor) and the light that will benefit the occupiers.
Shortly the panels for the next level and the 2nd floor will be formed and the 1st set of pre-cast stairs will go in. Approximately 8 1/2 months to go
24 June 2011
The underground concrete pours have all happened on time. The cutouts of the basement floor 1 and ground floor, are currently being filled. Access to the basement will be through the vehicle ramp space and lift shaft. The precast rear walls are being constructed now off site and will start to go up in next couple of weeks, along with remaining basement & ground floor columns. 10 months to go!
31 May 2011
Big milestone has been reached with 2 large concrete pours over 2 Fridays from 3am to 8am each, which largely completes the level 2 basement floor, and to the credit of Watts & Hughes with no disruption to neighbours or traffic.
An interesting statistic is that over 75% of all waste on site is being recycled, including steel (100%) and concrete. Our contractors keep a record of this. 11 months to go!
28 April 2011
Lots of work happening below ground and a huge concrete pour happening next week in basement.
A small truck was lowered underground to lift some beams into place, as the big crane can’t get under the ground floor concrete slab.
7 April 2011
Construction is on track and a crane dominates the Tauranga skyline. The 2 levels of underground carpark are due for completion in July and then the offices above will grow. 12 months to go!
