Sharp Tudhope’s new premises are a step closer with the Tauranga City Council granting resource consent for our new building.
The building confirms Sharp Tudhope’s continued commitment to the Tauranga CBD where it has been located for 112 years.
The decision allows for a modern 4 star green rated building located on the corner of First Avenue and Devonport Road. The building will take advantage of views and natural light and allow our legal staff to all be on one floor, improving the work environment. The oldest business in Tauranga, Sharp Tudhope see the building as a key component in attracting and retaining its next generation of solicitors.
There has been one appeal to the Environment Court against the Council’s decision. The appeal has not deterred the continuation of the project and planning is still well underway. If the issues raised by the appeal cannot be resolved, we would expect a hearing by the middle of this year. Assuming the Council’s decision is upheld, we hope to be able to begin construction next year and are optimistic that we can be shifted into a new building in the second half of 2010.
