In 1896 Henry Sharp and Archie Tudhope engaged a bullock team to drag together two wooden shops on Willow Street in Tauranga thus creating Sharp Tudhope’s first offices. History doesn’t record whether there were issues with unforeseen physical conditions or any of the payment schedules but we do know that the firm has prospered and lawyers from Sharp Tudhope have gone on to advise on procurement and disputes concerning some of the Bay of Plenty’s more significant projects. These include:
- The up-stream Tauranga Harbour Bridge
- Development of the Tauranga Airport
- The Ruahihi hydro power scheme
- The first high-rise Apartment complex at Mt Maunganui
And more recently:
- Route K/ Waikareo Expressway
- Craig’s Investment Partner’s building and retail centre
- Retro-fit of the KPMG building
- Project LEO – Tauranga hospital expansion for BOP District Health Board
We have also acted on significant construction projects outside of the Bay of Plenty, particularly for energy sector clients.
We are dedicated to serving the building and construction industry in the Bay of Plenty. We have a group of lawyers lead by Alasdair Christie who have significant experience in this field of the law and who were involved in all of the more recent projects listed above. We are long term members of the Tauranga Property Council and are on the committee of the Bay of Plenty branch of the New Zealand Contractor’s Federation.
